I turn to anchor the carpet on the edge of the forest, and eyelets. Glue does not work very well when Kitty decides nothing, and drag a corner, and Kitty can also use a paw caught in a base in the top of the timber.

Why stick at all? only wood based around the rim, or use thumbtacks.
Silicone caulk works .. It is what you use to paste all the carpet tiles in my shop display GL
